COVID-19 Malta Update for Meetings and Incentives

For easy reference on COVID-19 measures and event guidelines in Malta we have complied a list of frequently asked questions by meeting and incentive planners.

Is Malta open for travel?

The Malta International Airport reopened on 1st of July 2020 to the following destinations, recognised as 'safe routes':

Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (except for Ile de France), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy (except for Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, and Piemonte), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland (except for Katowice Airport), Sardinia, Sicily, Slovakia, Spain (except for Catalonia, Castilla -La Mancha, Castile and Leon), and Switzerland.

The following destinations were added on 15th of July 2020:

United Kingdom, Belgium, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, China, Vatican City, Rwanda, Uruguay, Slovenia, Japan, Morocco, Thailand, Tunisia, Portugal, Romania, Lebanon, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan and Liechtenstein.

Can events, meeting and incentives be held in Malta?

For group gatherings and events of more than 100 pax, the organiser is required to apply for a permit from The Malta Tourism Authority and submit a risk assessment plan. For contact tracing purposes details of attendees of organised events are kept on hold for 4 weeks.

All venues and catering establishments must adhere to regulations on capacities, based on one person per 4 square meters and no more than 10 people per group. Catering establishments and hotels open for business have been inspected by the Malta Tourism Authority and certified compliant with health and safety protocols in place. A visible seal 'Certified Compliant' can be found on the entrance of each establishment. Regular assessments are carried out.


Do you have DMC Covid-19 related measures in place?

ECMeetings adheres strictly to health and safety regulations of the Maltese Government and has issued a set of guidelines for all services offered (from arrival to departure, transportation, catering, venues, restaurants and accommodation). Event Managers are fully trained on safety protocols and suppliers are certified compliant by The Malta Tourism Authority.

Can I postpone my event without cancellation charges?

Considering the current situation ECMeetings is applying a case-by-case approach with flexible terms and conditions for group bookings.
