Why Grandparents?

The best way to discover a destination is through those who know it most deeply. Portuguese grandparents carry a lifetime of knowledge — from culinary traditions and craftsmanship to local stories and everyday rituals that no guidebook can capture.

By partnering with senior community organisations and local associations (including 55+ networks and NGOs), we’ve created a program that offers guests something rare: real human connection, shared moments, and authentic cultural exchange — while also supporting social inclusion and active ageing.

The idea of memories: skills passed down through generations

Each experience is shaped by the personal history of the seniors involved. Their memories and mastery form the foundation for meaningful, hands-on activities such as:

Cooking with a local grandma

Discover Portuguese cuisine in the most authentic way possible — by cooking alongside a local grandma in a traditional setting.

Guests begin with a visit to the local market, selecting seasonal ingredients before preparing classic dishes such as bacalhau, regional recipes, and the iconic pastéis de nata. Along the way, stories are shared, techniques are passed on, and the warmth of Portuguese hospitality fills the room.

This experience works beautifully for incentive groups, executive teams, and intimate corporate gatherings.

Co-create a unique art piece

Guided by a retired artisan with years of experience in traditional crafts, teams are invited to slow down and create together.

Using techniques such as embroidery on photographs or fabric, screen printing, serigraphy, or collage, participants co-create meaningful pieces of art — whether individual works or collaborative projects.

The process encourages creativity, conversation, and connection, making it an ideal team-building activity that feels relaxed, human, and deeply authentic.

City tales with elders

Explore Lisbon, Porto, or Algarve towns through the eyes of those who truly know them.

Instead of standard guided tours, guests are accompanied by retired professionals — an architect revealing hidden urban details, a photographer leading the group to the city’s most striking viewpoints, or a journalist sharing stories and local secrets shaped by decades of experience.

The result is a city that feels alive, personal, and full of character.

Wellness add-on: energy & balance

To complement meetings or incentive programs, we offer optional wellness moments designed to help teams recharge.

Activities may include yoga, stretching, dance, kickboxing, or paddle — led by senior instructors or incorporating intergenerational participation. These sessions foster wellbeing, positive energy, and meaningful interaction, adding depth to the overall program.

Corporate gifts with a story

Seniors also create unique, handcrafted corporate gifts such as bags, bandanas, brooches, and traditional Portuguese “lovers’ handkerchief” designs.

Each item is handmade using techniques like screen printing, embroidery, or hand painting, and includes a photo of its creator with the message: “She made it for you.” Every piece tells a story and carries cultural significance — making it far more meaningful than a standard branded gift.
