The winter season has started and like every year, a lot of local hotels are taking this opportunity to improve their facilities during the quieter period.

The 250-room Radisson Blu 5-star property in St. Julian’s closed its doors completely in November for a general refurbishment. Whilst the plans of the Island Hotels Group for a complete revamp of the hotel and building of two additional floors put on the back burner.

The Intercontinental Malta, a 450-room 5-star property, has also closed for the winter season. Works have started to add two additional floors which will be dedicated to 30 new luxury suites. In line with the extension, the existing 23 suites will also be renovated. The works are scheduled to be completed in March 2015.

But not just the hotels in the St. Julian’s area will be starting the 2015 summer season with a fresh look. In the Northern part of Malta the 450-room 4-star Seashells Resort has closed in November for a € 7million refurbishment to be completed by early April 2015. Improvements will mainly affect the guest rooms but also the public areas, both of which are scheduled to get a new, modern look.
